A charmingly rustic eatery on a historic working wine farm in the durbanville wine valley. Set among the poplars and oak trees next to a small dam, the randomly scattered barrel tables overlook the original cellar, housing the kitchen and tasting room. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, there is a Bedouin tent to provide some cover, as well as the picturesque 300 year old barrel room, a long narrow space complete with original massive oak barrels stacked on either side.
Whether you come for a coffee or a quick lunch, you will surely be tempted to spend the rest of the day. Have a bottle or two of Altydgedaght’s award-winning wines ( I could personally recommend the Barbera ), most of them also available by the glass. Pair with a ‘ build it yourself’ tapas platter or traditional chicken pie and you’re set. Open for breakfast and lunch, Monday to Saturday ( kitchen is open 9-15:00 ).
Altydgedacht is a 6th generation wine farm established in 1698.
